Find out who won the thrilling 24th match between Dindigul Dragons vs Siechem Madurai Panthers in the TNPL 2024 clash on July 26. Get the full match summary and key highlights.
The Dindigul Dragons had a rocky start to the season, losing both their first two games, but they have bounced back strongly with crucial wins against the Tiruppur Tamizhans and Kovai Kings. With 6 points from 5 matches, they are well-positioned for a playoff spot, needing just one or two wins in their remaining games.
In their match against the Tiruppur Tamizhans, the Dragons comfortably chased down a rain-revised target of 109 in 13 overs, thanks to Boopathi Kumar’s unbeaten half-century, achieving the win with eight wickets and seven balls to spare.
Their previous game against the Kovai Kings saw them concede 172 runs in 20 overs. However, an unbeaten 96 off just 49 balls by wicketkeeper Baba Indrajith led them to a thrilling victory with five wickets and four balls to spare. With key players hitting form and R Ashwin’s leadership, the Dragons look poised to overcome the underperforming Siechem Madurai Panthers.
The Madurai Panthers, who barely made the playoffs last season, face an even more formidable challenge this year. They need multiple wins and favorable results from other matches to secure a playoff spot.
The Panthers started their campaign with a win against Salem, but since then, their record reads Lost, Lost, No-Result, Lost. The no-result game against Nellai was particularly disappointing.
In their latest match against the Kovai Kings, despite Ajay Krishna’s impressive 4 for 20 in three overs, they allowed the Kovai Kings to post 163 in 20 overs. In reply, the Panthers collapsed to 58 for seven by the 12th over, eventually reaching 120, thanks to a rearguard effort from Karthick Manikandan and R Mithun.
Key player M Ashwin has taken eight wickets this season for the Panthers, while Jagatheesan Kousik and Suresh Lokeshwar have been performing well with the bat. This match is a must-win for the Panthers, who need to play their best cricket and hope for favorable outcomes in other games to keep their playoff hopes alive.

We expect the team will win the toss and opt to bowl first.
The match will be held at NPR College Ground in Dindigul, a new venue making its debut this season. Since this is the first game played here, teams prefer to bowl first to understand the conditions better and adapt their strategies accordingly.

So, that was it from our side. Three playoff spots had already been locked. Three teams were still vying for the final playoff spot as the tournament approached its business end. We invited you to join us the next day as a double-header came your way from TNPL. Until next time, goodbye and cheers!
Shivam Singh | Player of the Match: It was always good to score a hundred in a T20 game, and especially when it came to a winning cause, it felt great. I had some on-and-off games in between, but God was kind today. Dindigul has always been exceptional; the environment, conditions, and the crowd supporting us have been fantastic.
22:39 Local Time, 17:09 GMT, 22:39 IST: A clinical all-around show from the Dindigul Dragons enabled them to register a well-deserved victory. Once the Dragons put 201 on the board on the back of a terrific unbeaten century from Shivam Singh, they were always the favorites at the halfway stage. During the run-chase, Nishanth was run out early.
Lokeshwar was going strong from the other end and had stitched a 61-run stand with Kousik to keep his side in the game. But once Kousik departed, Lokeshwar was dismissed quickly, and the Panthers were pushed on the back foot. Chaturvedi played a cameo, but Chakravarthy got rid of him with an intelligent piece of bowling.
From there, it all went downhill for the Panthers, who kept losing wickets at regular intervals and crumbled under pressure. Warrier and Ashwin took a couple of wickets each, while Chakravarthy and Bhati were also impressive.
This victory propelled the Dragons to the third position and secured their place in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Panthers were knocked out of the competition with this loss.
