Zak Crawley injured his finger while fielding in the West Indies’ second innings. An X-ray confirmed a fracture, and it is unknown whether surgery will be needed.
With Crawley out, England captain Ben Stokes opened the innings with Ben Duckett. They quickly chased 87 runs in 7.2 overs without losing a wicket, securing a 3-0 series sweep against the West Indies.
Crawley’s absence is a setback for the London Spirit, who have lost their first two matches in The Hundred. Keaton Jennings has been signed to replace him and may also fill Crawley’s spot in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
England is considering Dan Lawrence as a potential partner for Duckett at the top of the order. Lawrence, who hasn’t played a Test since March 2022, was on standby for the second Test at Trent Bridge while Duckett was preparing for the birth of his second child.
Despite a strong start with 76 runs at Lord’s, Crawley’s performance declined, ending the series with just 97 runs from four innings.
